Another conversation on the radio! Diane and Ray asked about jumping in the pool on my wedding day and what my chapter Spa Secrets really meant...we all respond to illness with some measure of fear for ourselves.
Great! Thank you to all! Paul even got up and spoke at this one. I'm getting spoiled with all these generous turnouts! Everyone has a story to share...

My friends and colleagues wore pink, fed me gourmet sheet cake frosted with the cover of my book and wrote a letter to Oprah in my name. I love these people!
The sun shone in on us in Marquand Chapel and warmed our writing hands. I've always wanted to go to Yale Divinity School...

Maureen, the owner of Breakwater Books, continues to create a charming and cozy
book nook atmosphere. It was fun to have friends from the neighborhood stop in, visit and buy a book!
Paul set up his paintings while I arranged books and hors d 'hourves with help from our gracious yoga hosts, owner Kimberly Smith, and her husband, Hal. The audience was an attentive and kind group of yoginis and fans. Joan Silverburg helped to make sure everything went smoothly. Riverdog is a place of home and health for so many of us on the shoreline.
Returning to Teachers College for this event was a remarkable experience. Friends, former students, colleagues and cousins turned out to support me. My friend, Martha Colby, played an elegant cello while
I read from my book and participated in a scholarship dedication ceremony for former grad student, Sylvia Jimenez, who passed away from breast cancer in 2003 at the age of 29. We honored Sylvia's memory, greeted her family and celebrated life on this special evening. Further donations may be made in Sylvia's name to the Edward D Mysak Speech and Hearing Center at Teachers College, Columbia U.
Paul and I were guests of Rabbi Brockman and Congregation Mishkan Israel on this sacred night of shared
food, a healing sabbath service and storytelling. About 80 participants were present. I spoke about my healing journey and experience of writing this book, and heard amazing stories of surivorship amidst struggle. What a welcoming experience of community!
Although my mini-golf game is too rusty to mention further, my mom and I had a fabulous time at the LPGA luncheon fundrasier sponsored by Lincoln Mercury. What a thrill to be introduced by veteran LPGA winner and six-time tour winner, Val Skinner, and learn about her multi-million dollar fundrasing efforts for the Komen Foundation and LIFE (LGPA Pros in the Fight to Eradicate Breast Cancer). We also had lunch with a present LPGA tour player, Carin Koch, who offered golf game tips.
My friends hosted a book party for me in the lovely suburbs of Walpole, Mass. I've known this summer circle of friends since I began building sandcastles at low tide on BayView Beach in the 2nd grade. So many of us have been touched by cancer personally. To share and listen to each other's stories from the Miracle Jar would fill a second book...Many thanks to all of the women who attended and cheered me on.
